Artist Talk: 15th April - John Manton
April’s talk will feature Oxford artist and historian John Manton. John is a doctoral student in Fine Art at Oxford Brookes and will talk with us about his doctoral research project. His project is guided by the idea of a digital twin, where a physical body or process is dynamically linked with a digital model, which can then be stress tested in place of the material instance. In this talk, John will introduce some visual and textual games and strategies he is exploring as part of a broader investigation of digital twinning in the artist book publication and distribution pipeline. As part of a commitment to recycling, some of these strategies build on and modify work from his MFA and prior academic practice.
The Artist Talk series takes place each month and is an opportunity to hear artists and arts professionals talk about their practice. It is also an opportunity to network with other artists with time set aside for questions and conversations.
